This 7-day/6-night Botswana safari adventure takes you on a journey to two stunning destinations within the Okavango Delta—one of Africa’s top wildlife destinations. You’ll spend three days at each camp, both with uniquely different looks and feels. Start in either Moremi or Khwai and then continue your journey north or south while you get up close and personal with spectacular landscapes and remarkable animals.
Each day, you’ll spend as much time as you want—from dawn until dusk—driving through the diverse and game-rich Okavango Delta area. You’ll start each day before dawn with a quick breakfast and coffee (because you can never have too much coffee) before hopping in your safari vehicle with up to five other guests for an all-day adventure. Pause each mid-morning for a snack, spend lunch back at the camp or out on the game drive (it’s up to you and your car), and then spend sunset on your Sundowner with drinks and snacks in the middle of the wilderness before heading back to camp for dinner.
This week-long Botswana safari adventure through pristine natural wilderness will show you open vistas with plains as far as the eye can see, vast waterways, seasonal lagoons, and dense forests. It’s a lush oasis inhabited by a profusion of birds and other wildlife including hippos, elephants, giraffe, buffalo, crocodile, wildebeest, cheetah, lion, leopard, hyena, zebra, and a variety of antelope species. You’ll also have the opportunity to discover one of Africa’s most endangered species, the African Painted Wolf (Wild Dog). Botswana boasts one of the largest painted wolf populations in the world, and we guarantee you’ll love these incredible creatures.

Our 7-day/6-night Botswana safari adventure of the Okavango Delta will take you to two highly unique areas in this wildlife-dense region, from the lush lagoons of Moremi to the sweeping grasslands, forests, and floodplains of Khwai.
DAY 1 - Arrival at Camp 1 (Moremi or Khwai)
Upon your arrival in Maun, you’ll be met at the airport by your bush flight guide and then transferred to the nearest landing strip either in Moremi or Khwai, depending on where you choose to start your mobile safari experience. You’ll then be picked up at the airstrip by your Brave Africa safari guide to start your first game drive on the way back to camp. Depending on timing, you’ll enjoy a complete afternoon safari experience before heading to camp for the evening where you’ll get settled, enjoy a delicious dinner, and get plenty of sleep for your early morning Day 2.
Day 2 & 3 - All Day at Camp 1 (Moremi or Khwai)
Both days you’ll wake up before sunrise for a quick, light breakfast then head out with your Brave Africa safari guide for your game drive. You’ll explore all over the gorgeous and enchanting Moremi or Khwai landscapes with opportunities to enjoy up-close-and-personal encounters with abundant wildlife and few other cars and humans.
- The Moremi Game Reserve offers a unique mix of lush lagoons, open savannahs, and riverine forests. It’s well-known for its diverse habitats and prolific wildlife sightings of predators, prey, and other big game. Birding is also particularly impressive along the Khwai River.
- The Khwai concession is mostly dry and made up of sweeping grasslands, forests, and floodplains. You’ll have great game-viewing areas as animals gather around various watering holes and the Khwai river. Located just outside the north-eastern boundaries of the Moremi Game Reserve, Khwai offers unmatched wildlife encounters, including spectacular bird watching opportunities.
Both locations are rated as top game-viewing areas in Botswana, and you’ll find an exciting mix of elephants, zebra, giraffe, red lechew, waterbuck, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, lion, and more. There’s also an abundance of bird life from world-famous heronries to bee-eaters.
During the cool morning hours, you’ll have the best chance of seeing a hunt, as most animals are more active at this time. Then, as the day heats up, you’ll have the choice of heading back to camp for lunch or staying out on your game drive and eating a cold lunch near an elephant watering hole or wherever your guide chooses. Then, after lunch, continue on your game drive and enjoy a blissful sunset as the animals once again take advantage of the cooler weather to become more active.
You’ll finally head back to camp as the sun sets to enjoy an evening around the campfire. Share your experiences with your fellow safari guests, dive into a delicious hot meal, and then get a great night’s rest in preparation for the next day.
DAY 4 - All Day Game Drive with Travel to Camp 2 (Moremi or Khwai)
On this early morning, you’ll grab everything you want to bring along with you for an ENTIRE day out in the bush because after your morning game drive, you’ll travel either north or south toward Camp 2. The entire drive takes place through game-heavy areas and varying landscapes, so each moment offers up something new and exciting. Around lunch time, you’ll stop for a cold meal out in the bush before continuing on your journey. Finally, when the sun sets, you’ll arrive at your new camp to find everything already set up and waiting for you to enjoy.
While you’re enjoying your all-day Botswana adventure safari, our competent and friendly camp staff will be packing up your tent and moving to the new location. They’ll take care of everything and be all set up in your next camp with dinner waiting for you when you finally arrive. This is nothing like transferring between lodges. You won’t even realize you moved locations except for the new landscapes waiting for you to explore.
While you’re enjoying your all-day safari, our competent and friendly camp staff will be packing up your tent and moving to the new location. They’ll take care of everything and be all set up in your next camp with dinner waiting for you when you finally arrive. This is nothing like transferring between lodges. DAY 7 - Depart Camp 2 (Moremi or Khwai)
Wake up early on your final morning with Brave Africa for a goodbye breakfast before you head out on your final game drive. You’ll know from the day before when your bush flight will arrive to pick you up, and our safari guide will ensure that you get the most out of your morning and early afternoon as possible before you head out on the remainder of your journey. You’ll get a much game-viewing in as possible before heading to the landing strip in plenty of time to make your bush flight.

Will I have a game drive the day I arrive and the day I leave?
We do our best to get you out on a game drive the evening you arrive. Our goal is always to give you as much time in the bush and on safari as possible, but we can’t control everything and we do not schedule your bush flights—it’s up to the airline. Most of the time, bush flights arrive in the early afternoon, which means you get a full afternoon game drive on your way back to camp. However, sometimes there are weather or scheduling conflicts that could mean you arrive late and will only get to enjoy a short game drive back to camp on your first evening.
Will I get to see every animal on my list?
We sure hope so! A huge variety of wildlife, including predators, calls Botswana home. There’s abundant opportunity to see every kind of game from lions to wild dogs, elephants, giraffes, leopards, spotted hyena, hippo, baboons, cheetah, and more. However, nature is nature. We don’t control it. This isn’t a zoo. Sometimes you can see everything you want on a single drive, and other times the wildlife is hiding. We’ll do our best to give you the experience you want, but we can’t guarantee anything—no one can. The good news is that on a Botswana adventure safari with Brave Africa, you’ll get to spend all day out on game drives instead of back at camp, so you’ll have the best chance possible of seeing everything.
Why two camps and three days at each camp?
Botswana’s Okavango Delta is renowned for one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in all of Africa. It’s a vast region with many unique landscapes and areas to explore. Spending all your time at one camp means you don’t get to experience a broad swatch of the landscape. At the same time, spending only a day or two at each location would mean you’d barely get to touch the surface. Our 7-day / 6-night mobile safari gives you enough time at two different and highly unique locations, so you leave Brave Africa feeling like you truly got to experience some of the best that Botswana has to offer.
You’re a mobile safari. Does that mean I’ll be roughing it?
Absolutely not! We’re a Botswana adventure safari because we want to maximize your wildlife viewing and safari experiences and if you don’t have to hop on a bush flight between camp locations, you’ll have more time on the ground seeing the animals and experiencing the beauty of Botswana. Other than that, our camps feel no different than a permanent lodge except we’re a little more in-touch with nature.
Your tent has a fully-flushing private toilet, two twin beds or a king-sized bed with a plush mattress, solar lights, side tables, and a rug. The only thing you might find different is our bucket shower under the stars. We heat up the water when you’re ready, and then you head into your shower area for a one-of-a-kind private shower under the gorgeous Botswana sky.
Our goal is to make you feel right at home, but at the same time, feel like you’re enjoying a truly unique African safari experience rather than something super luxurious at a lodge that brings you out of the safari mindset. But there’s no roughing it involved, at all. We do all the setup and tear down at camp. Your only job is to enjoy.
When is the best time to go on safari in Botswana?
That’s a hard question. Botswana is a year-round destination with 300 days of sunshine and abundant wildlife throughout the year. However, the weather does change throughout the year with seasons of heavier rainfall that can impact your game-viewing expectations. Here’s a quick overview of what Botswana adventure safari is like throughout the year.
- January/February are the wettest months of the year with thick, green vegetation that can hide wildlife. It’s also hot and humid. In spite of this, these months are incredible for bird watching, many migrations are in full swing, and many antelope give birth so predators can be abundant.
- March is when the rains begin to ease, but water is now everywhere. You’ll find large concentrations of animals in the accessible dry areas, but the abundance of water also means more mosquitos.
- April/May are two amazing months to visit Botswana. The days are warm, the nights are cool, and there’s little chance of rain. The landscape is green, animals are hovering around permanent water sources, and it is before peak season, so visitors are few and prices are more affordable.
- June/July are two months with flawless blue winter skies, but it’s definitely a little cooler. There are very few mosquitos and game viewing is exceptional at this time.
- August/September/October are peak season in Botswana. The concentration of game is the greatest at this time of year and they’re easy to see and find because the vegetation has thinned out. You’ll find great herds of antelope, elephants, and buffalo at this time, along with all the predators. However, this time of year is also hot with lots of sunshine.
- November/December welcome the first rains of the wet season. This time of year is great for newly-born calves and cubs as well as migrant birds and green scenery. The weather is also cooler, and rates are lower.
